In 1982 Gerald Hines opened the Dallas Galleria, a new up-scale shopping center at the intersection of the Dallas North Parkway and the LBJ Freeway. Bob Quaglia was hired to devise and implement the media plan for grand opening and year one of the center.
With the use of multiple, rotating outdoor postings, local newspaper ads, television and radio broadcasting events and regional and local magazine ads, a six month campaign teaser was launched.
The last phase of the promotion was devoted to promoting the opening weekend featuring then ice-skating stars Tai Babilonia and Randy Gardner to perform on Galleria’s ice rink.
The weekend attendance of over 40,000 visitors set an all time record for any of Gerald Hines’ center openings.
